“Kilburn” is Krzysztof’s first London-inspired building, following earlier works shaped by New York’s architecture and energy. The façade becomes a stage where the neighbourhood’s stories mix with the artist’s own dinner parties, neighbours smoking weed on the stoop, foxes prowling at night, Netflix chilling that slips into hookups and even a burglary drawn from his private life. Many windows reveal glimpses of the artist’s own encounters, blurring autobiography with observation. The work also nods to London’s changing architecture: roofs once left unused are now transformed into terraces, new vantage points for social life and intimacy. Reflecting on how queer intimacy has shifted from public cruising to private interiors, accelerated by hookup apps, ‘Kilburn’ shows how secrecy, tension, and playfulness persist even as the architecture of London and lifestyle around us evolve.
